Discover GCCC

Community Christian Church was founded in 1982 and has been growing and reaching the world for Christ.

Greenville Community Christian Church (GCCC) is on a mission to uplift and bring deliverance to people in our community and around the world. Pastor James D. Corbett effectively communicates biblical principles by connecting them to real-life experiences and providing clear understanding.

GCCC’s journey began humbly. In March 1982, Pastor Corbett and the late Pastor Delores held services in their home with a congregation of only three families. Pastor Corbett focused on preaching and teaching the adults, while Pastor Delores took care of the children. The initial Outreach Ministry was the “Door of Faith” radio broadcast. Within eighteen months, the church grew and relocated to 1203 W. 14th Street. Members came together to form the GCCC choir and establish the Community Christian Church Bookstore.

To accommodate the remarkable growth, GCCC relocated to Highway 11 South in December 1985. Due to the increasing number of worshippers, within five years, they implemented two Sunday morning services. Finally, in April 1990, GCCC moved to its present address at 1104 N. Memorial Drive in Greenville, NC.  Through continued local growth and development of various means of digital outreach, including television broadcasts, international online ministries, radio broadcasts, a monthly devotional publication, and more, GCCC continues to strive, spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

meet the pastor

While serving in the United States Army, Pastor Corbett experienced a new beginning.
In 1977, he was born again and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1978. After eight years of active duty in the military, God called Pastor Corbett into the ministry. He left the military and moved to Greenville, North Carolina. Pastor Corbett attended Pitt Community College where he was a two-time honor graduate. He later achieved a BSA degree in Accounting from East Carolina University in Greenville and received employment as a Loan Bank Officer. In 1985, Pastor Corbett transitioned from his banking career to full-time ministry. Pastor Corbett received his Doctor of Biblical Studies and Doctor of Divinity Degree from World Christian College Council in Fresno, California on December 4, 1994. Pastor Corbett is currently the district director for the International Convention of Faith Ministries. God gave Pastor Corbett a vision to minister to the whole man; spirit soul, and body. The vision includes reaching communities with the gospel and taking the message of Jesus Christ around the world. Pastor Corbett is fulfilling that vision through practical teaching of the Word of God, through Men, Women and Singles Fellowships, daily radio and television broadcasts, teaching CDs and supplementary books. His CDs are widely distributed throughout the United States. He has also authored three books, Men of Honor, Tithing the Tithe, and Honoring Your Husband-Honoring Your Wife. Pastor Corbett also is the author of a monthly devotional entitled “A Word in Season”. The vision also includes mass media presentation, training centers and schools for ministry, programs for the disadvantaged, and a Christian school. Pastor Corbett has five children and fourteen wonderful grandchildren. On February 23, 2013, Pastor James D. Corbett and Sister Sarah A Perkins were united in Holy matrimony. It is Pastor Corbett's desire to continue to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ with signs and wonders confirming the preaching of God's Word.
