statement of faith based on God's Word

Greenville Community Christian Church accepts the scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts these statements of fundamental truths and doctrine.

A The Bible is the inspired Word of God written by holy men as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Testament is the infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.

B Our God is one, but manifested in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
C Man is a created being, made in the image and likeness of God, but through Adam's transgression, sin came into the world. Jesus Christ was manifested to undo the works of the devil. He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem man and restore him back to God.
D Salvation is the gift of God to man, separated from works and the law. Salvation is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. The new birth is necessary for all men; when fulfilled produces eternal life.
E Water baptism is for believers only and performed by immersion. It is a direct command of our Lord.
F Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a gift from God to believers and is received subsequent to the new birth by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues.
G Sanctification is a progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing throughout one's saved life on earth.
H Healing is provided through the atonement of Christ and is a privilege of every believer. It is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith by the laying on of hands.
I The laying on of hands is to transmit power or anointing from one person to another. The laying on of hands is utilized for healing , to confer office, to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and for ordination.
J The return of Jesus Christ is imminent. The Church will be raptured, and the tribulations will follow. He shall return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords where He and the saints shall reign a thousand years.
K Hell is a real place. Those who die without receiving Jesus as their Savior will be eternally lost without further opportunity to hear the Gospel or to repent.
L Communion, the Lord's Supper, shows the Lord's death till He comes. The bread symbolizes His broken body. The cup represents the new covenant in His blood which provides us forgiveness and a relationship with God.
