Three Reactions to Change

Romans 6:4 – “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life.”

1. Resistance to Change

People will fight change. They will say, “I don’t understand why we have to change!” You know it’s amazing, I read in an article that people fought the automobile! They were upset because it went 15mph! People asked who will want to drive at such breakneck speed. Now we all have automobiles.

2. Tolerate Change

Some people will change when they come under conviction or when they hear the Word of God. In Acts 9, God talked to Peter and prepared him to go to Cornelius’ house. Thank God the Lord changed him! Peter said a voice from heaven changed him. When God got his attention, he changed in order to fulfill his purpose and calling. As a result, Cornelius’ family was saved.

3. Embrace Change

When God wants to do something on the earth, He can’t do it through people who won’t change. With time, you have to change the way you do some things. If we keep trying to hold on to what used to be, we won’t go on with what is today.

Prayer Focus: Help me Lord to accept the changes that you bring about in my life, in my home, in my Church, on my job, even in the world around me. I don’t want to be left behind.

Verse of the Day: Romans 7:6 – “… we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

Living the Word Today: Have a newness in your walk and spirit.
